Benihana was founded in 1964 by 25 year old Hiroaki "Rocky" Aoki. The first restaurant was opened in New York City, and was started with $10,000 that Hiroaki earned by driving an ice cream truck in Harlem.

Benihana has over 110 locations across the globe in over 20 countries. Over 70 of those locations are in the United States, with their headquarters in Doral, Florida.
What Does Benihana Sell?
Benihana is famous for their theatrical dinner preparation in a Japanese Teppanyaki style. Teppan means "steel grill" while yaki means "grilled" or "broiled". They serve all kinds of delicacies such as Lobster, Filet Mignon, Scallops, Shrimp, New York Strip Steak, and many more dishes.
